the life of a runner

A blog for those who understand that running is not only a pastime, but a lifestyle and an obsession.
Today I had a little adventure.  In addition, I have come to realize that more people need sprinklers on their lawns.  Let’s face it, in the summer it’s hot outside and when I’m running it’s even hotter; not to mention that all their grass will die if they don’t water it… ergo everyone in the world needs a sprinkler on their front lawn to help out me— I mean, their beautiful green grass.
Anyway, I ran a Fartlek workout today which wasn’t bad at all, in fact the warm-up and cool-down felt longer than the workout which is never fun. Ever.  But afterwards I had to do some drills with hurdles so I drove over to my old high school and hijacked some hurdles off the football field to use.  To be honest, I am horrible at hurdles which is why I never hurdled in track and my coach refused to let me because he knew I’d fall flat on my face.  I almost did, I went over the hurdles like a spastic monkey because I didn’t really know what I was doing.  I’m sure it was funny to watch, though.  After completing my drills and such, I noticed my old cross country team was there for practice, so I stopped by to say hello and my old coaches told me to come to some of the practices.  I think I will just to see all my friends before going away to college in twenty-two days and to get some hilly runs in before moving to hilly Maryland. Hopefully it won’t be too weird…
