Today I tried aqua jogging instead of doing a normal run. Because of all that’s happening with my family and moving in to college, the only time I was free was around nine at night, so I went to the gym and thought about running on a treadmill for four miles, but thought it would be more fun to aqua jog. It wasn’t really that fun, but my legs are thanking me for it, especially after being so sore for several days. I have never really aqua jogged before, and found that I am so small the smallest belt I could find still didn’t fit me… Why is it that it’s so hard to find anything I fit in to? It sucks.
Anyway, there were some hardcore swimmers in the pool who made me look like a wimp with my little aqua jogging belt, some elderly therapy swimming people who made me look like a champion, and of course the lifeguard who just watched me silently judging. I enjoyed it even though I’m sure the lifeguard didn’t, and I’m hoping I’ll be good for running with my team soon. Tomorrow is move-in day, however we don’t have practice because of all the stuff we have to do, so Friday I will be running with my team! So exciting.
There will always be at least one time in your life when you just want a cookie. Mine is now. I hate it because when I eat unhealthy food, it messes up my stomach and it will be distended and hurt for several days. All for a couple cookies. I run; I deserve a cookie every now and then. I mean, who should live their life without at least eating one? No one, that’s who. And so now because of my non-health kick, I am debating on whether or not to run tonight. A lot of stuff has been going on with my family (most likely the stress behind my cookie craving) as well as moving to college tomorrow prevents me from getting in the runs I need. I wish I could just relax for a second, but every time I try, there’s something else I have to do or pack or finish or sign, or [insert any pointless task you can think of].
I will most likely run tonight because after I am all packed and ready, there won’t be much else for me to do. The unfortunate part, however, is that I am forced to wear the clothes I never wear, much less want to bring to college, because everything else is packed away. Yay for me…
Finally, I am back from my trip to Maine. It was actually a lot of fun, and the weather was pretty nice— actually at night it was a little cold for me since I’m from Jersey. I did get some running in, as my boyfriend’s uncle took us on some trails which were all but easy. While describing the trail to me he happened to mention that there was a hill in the middle of the run, but said it wasn’t too bad. It was. It was extremely steep and three miles long. It was hot out since we were running randomly in the middle of the day and I had an asthma attack in the middle. I didn’t realize that instead of running up a hill we actually would be running up a mountain. What I also didn’t realize is Maine is at a higher elevation than New Jersey and therefore it is harder to breathe up there causing my asthma to act up even though I took my inhaler. It was not fun. But the air was nice and it was pleasant to not run on asphalt all the time since Maine seems to be very much untouched by contractors and developers. It’s all very interesting however two days later I am still extremely sore. I ran a Fartlek workout today and it was so hard because my legs didn’t want to move at all.
I would never live in Maine, though, I can’t stand the cold and having no neighbors or any human contact besides the local Walmart. I prefer the semi-city in which I reside already. However, I am going back to sleep.
I will be on a brief hiatus from blogging as I am finally going on vacation (the first time since I was in fifth grade). I am going up to Maine to visit my boyfriend’s family. Of course, I will be running up there since I move in to college for pre-season cross country the 25th and that is incredibly soon. It’s going to be interesting running in an unfamiliar place without a team or anything, but his mother said there is also a gym at the hotel in which we are staying, so if worst comes to worst I will be a treadmill hog and log all my miles with it. Should be interesting…
Anyway, today I did a Fartlek workout, which really wasn’t bad. I love this kind of weather after it’s been extremely hot, because it’s nice 80 degree weather. Today was such a good day aside from a teensy little cramp I got, but it’s better than getting dizzy, so I am happy with today.
